Manic Street Preachers : Related Information

Formed in the mid 80’s, the Manics shot to fame with their 1992 album Generation Terrorists and were amongst the new generation of British bands that emerged at the time.

After the mysterious disappearance of Manics' lyricist, songwriter and icon, Richey Edwards, the band returned after a short hiatus as a 3-piece with Everything Must Go, an album that re-launched the band in many ways.

Rejuvinated with a slightly poppier sound that resonated with the happening Britpop scene, the band’s consecutive albums, This is My Truth Tell Me Yours and Know Your Enemy, pushed the Street Preachers to mega stardom across Europe and the UK, where Manic Street Preachers moved from playing arenas to stadiums.

2009’s release Journal For Plague Lovers was an intended move by the band to reconnect with their own past, resulting in a sound echoing their earliest days. It’s also a poignant album in that all its lyrics are leftovers by Richey Edwards given to the band members shortly before his disappearance.

“70 Songs Of Hatred And Failure” is the working title of the long-awaited follow-up to 2010's critically acclaimed “Postcards from a Young Man.” No release date has been given by the band or recoprd company, instead the Manic Street Preachers release the career retrospective Best-Of album, "National Treasures - The Complete Singles." The singles collection includes a brand-new track, a cover of The The's "This Is The Day."
